Situated between the wildlife rich Marais and the coast the Bessin area of Calvados has much to offer the visitor. The medieval town of Bayeux with its resturants, shops, art and cultural events including festivals and of course the famous tapestry is only 15 minutes from the Farm.
Isigny sur Mer is 10 minutes away. Omaha Beach Golf Club and Port-en-Bessin are 15 minutes with a 27-hole international golf course as well as a good choice of excellent seafood restaurants. Restaurants in Bayeux have more traditional menus. Normandy is great horse country and riding is a good way of really getting off the beaten track and seeing the country. The stables in Colleville-sur-Mer cater for all levels of experience. Water sports centers along the coast have facilities for just about everything; diving, wind-surfing, catamaran sailing, kayaking. Of course the fine sandy beaches, dunes and cliffs make excellent coastal walks and the fishing village of Grandcamp Maisy (a scenic 10 minute drive) provides a quaint lunchtime seafront venue. To the south the forest of Cerisy has some excellent walks and we are situated in the Marais regional park. Our bicycles are available for exploring all of these areas.
We have not yet mentioned the Normandy landings and the incredible wealth of sites, museums and history associated with the momentus events that occurred here with many of the sites posessing a quite special atmosphere .
